About Target Diseases

Atheroma Pimples

A powdery mass is a benign tumor that occurs under the skin and is a cyst that forms from a buildup of dead skin cells and sebum. It is often found as a small round lump under the skin. The lump usually grows slowly and is rarely painful, but may become red, swollen, and painful if infected. Pus may also be present.
Powdery masses are often caused by clogged skin pores or sweat glands and may involve skin wounds, friction, or hormonal influences. A genetic component is also thought to play a role; if a family member has a similar condition, he or she is more likely to develop a powdery mildew.
The most common treatment is surgical excision. Smaller cysts can be easily removed using local anesthesia. If infection is suspected or to prevent recurrence, it is important to remove the entire cyst. Please avoid crushing the cyst by yourself and visit the Kamogawa Clinic Tenroku or Miyakojima Ekimae Clinic.

Armpit, axillary odor

Armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis) and hyperhidrosis of the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis) are two different conditions. Armpits are characterized by a strong body odor caused by the decomposition of sweat secreted from apocrine glands by indigenous bacteria in the skin. The main symptoms are a strong odor from the armpits and yellowing of clothing. Hyperhidrosis of the armpits, on the other hand, is characterized by excessive sweating from the eccrine glands, which produces a less intense odor but produces such large amounts of sweat that it interferes with daily life.
Effective measures to combat armpits include frequent showers to keep clean, the use of deodorant products, and the selection of breathable clothing. Treatment options include surgical removal of apocrine glands. It is highly effective and radical cure is expected. It requires a recovery period after surgery, but is covered by insurance. On the other hand, MiraDry is a treatment that uses electromagnetic waves to destroy apocrine glands. Its effectiveness varies from person to person, is expensive, and is not covered by insurance. At our clinics (Miyakojima Ekimae Clinic and Kamogawa Clinic), only insurance-covered treatments are available.
Countermeasures for hyperhidrosis of the armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis) include the use of antiperspirants, the wearing of highly absorbent clothing, and the use of sweat pads. Treatment options include Botox injections to control sweating and surgery targeting the eccrine glands. Treatment options for axillary hyperhidrosis include the use of antiperspirants, Botox injections to control sweating, and surgery to remove eccrine glands. These methods are effective in reducing sweating and improving the quality of daily life. Another topical medication covered by insurance is Ecloc gel (generic name: Sofricolor). This gel reduces sweat secretion by suppressing the activity of eccrine glands. Ecloc gel is prescribed primarily for mild to moderate axillary hyperhidrosis and is used under the supervision of a physician. It is usually applied once a day to the affected area in an appropriate amount and continuous use is expected to be effective.

Skin Cancer Examination

Skin cancer is a cancer caused by the abnormal growth of skin cells. Basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma are the main types. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are mainly caused by ultraviolet rays from sunlight, and are said to be particularly prone to occur on the face, neck, and other parts of the body that are easily exposed to sunlight. Malignant melanoma arises from pigment cells called melanocytes and is an extremely malignant cancer with a high risk of spreading to other organs if not detected early.
Skin cancers are characterized by moles that are irregular in shape and color, scars that are difficult to heal, and skin patches that change abruptly. Malignant melanoma, in particular, is characterized by asymmetric shape, indistinct borders, heterogeneous coloration, and rapid enlargement in diameter.
The examination procedure begins with a visual examination. A dermoscopy is used to observe the detailed shape of the skin. For suspected abnormal areas, histopathological examination is performed to make a definitive diagnosis. Kamogawa Clinic Tenroku and Miyakojima Ekimae Clinic perform more than 60 pathological examinations every month, and if further detailed examination or treatment is required, we ask our patients to bring a letter of referral to the general hospital of their choice for consultation.

Ingrown and ingrown nails

An ingrown nail is a condition caused by the edge of the nail digging into the skin and is especially common on the toe. Early symptoms include redness, swelling, and pain in the skin around the nail. In advanced stages, infection may occur and pus may accumulate. It is thought to be caused by the nail penetrating the skin at the lateral nail cage (both sides of the nail).
In mild cases, treatment may include recommendations for improving nail trimming and straightening the toenail. Severe cases require medical attention, which may include lifting the end of the nail and securing it in the correct position, removal of partially ingrown nails, or phenol methods. Proper shoe selection and regular nail care are important to prevent recurrence. Early medical attention is recommended, especially for diabetics and others at high risk of infection. We perform the phenol method on more than 10 patients each month.
